Nutrition and Recovery

Nutrition

Bigger Faster Stronger recognizes nutrition as a very important part of fitness. BFS has a stellar 43-year track record in America’s fitness industry. We have conducted thousands of clinics, trained hundreds of thousands of students, and certified more staff, and produced more positive results than any other company in the industry. Nutritional education has always been an integral part of our clinics.

Two things rob our students of their performance potential more than any other both in the classroom and on the athletic field: (1) sleep deprivation and (2) dehydration. Those two factors, along with the ones below, are critical steps in making an Eleven student-athlete:

The Eleven Athlete is one who has achieved physical superiority on the playing field by focusing on the following areas of sports training and competition:

  • Rest and Nutrition
  • Year-Round Training
  • Record Keeping
  • Sprint Training
  • Agility Training
  • Endurance Training
  • Flexibility Training
  • Plyometric Training
  • Strength Training
  • Skill Training
  • Mental Training – Be an 11
  • Our psychology-of-success program asks, "On a scale of one to ten, why not choose to Be an 11?" With this philosophy, we ask students to rate things according to the following scale and questions. For example, in regard to their nutrition, we ask students, "On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate your personal nutritional program?" And then, "In order to make it an ELEVEN, what would have to take place?" To help students make better nutritional choices and elevate their personal well being, BFS has adopted the following Nutritional Guidelines:

    Top 4 BFS Nutritional Guidelines

EAT LIKE AN ELEVEN. All your meals should contain at least one serving of vegetables, one serving of fruit and a good protein source. If you need to ensure you are getting the protein you need a NSF Certified product like Built By Strength is a smart answer!

  • AVOID THE 5 LETHAL FOODS. These foods rob students and staff of their performance potential:
  • Sodas
  • French Fries
    (and Other Fried Foods)
  • Chips
  • Pastries
  • Candy
  • STAY HYDRATED BY DRINKING WATER. Drinking water is the best and easiest change an athlete can make in his or her nutritional program. You can improve your bodies ability to take on hydration with a product AdeNation.
  • TAKE A COMPLETE MULTIVITAMIN/MINERAL NUTRITIONAL AID. The American Medical Association recommends taking a multivitamin/mineral to avoid nutritional deficiencies because, in a study of 21,500 people, not one person achieved the Reference Daily Intake (RDI) of the ten most-needed vitamins.
