How this great school is reaping the benefits of BFS
llensburg High School is known for its student body of smart, disciplined young people who set goals and make specific plans to achieve them. Case in point: Approximately 45 percent of Ellensburg graduates go on to four-year colleges and another 15 percent move on to junior colleges. But there’s much more to this great school. Just ask BFS clinician Evan Ayres. In June Coach Ayres visited Ellensburg and gave a BFS trifecta: a two-day Total Program clinic, a Be an 11 seminar and a BFS Certification clinic.
The series E“...We are seeing phenomenal growth in speed, quickness and confidence from our athletes. I believe our athletic program is already beginning to see improvements....” ²(5,&'$9,6 was attended by 130 high school athletes, 30 high school coaches and eight of the school’s 10 secondary physical education teachers – there were even five coaches from other schools who came to the certification. Ayres said it was “one of the best clinics I have ever done – it was how a clinic should be done.” Ellensburg athletic director Eric Davis agrees. “The BFS clinic was a great success for our athletic program here at Ellensburg High School,” says Davis.
“The commitment level of our athletes, coaches and physical education teachers throughout the summer was incredible. We are seeing phenomenal growth in speed, quickness and confidence from our athletes. I believe our athletic program is already beginning to see improvements and will continue to see even larger gains in the very near future.”
These are very strong words because, as Ayres explains, the Bulldogs already have a strong sports presence. “Coach Davis has hired a great staff to work with all Last year 16 of the 19 Bulldog teams made it to the state playoffs. of his sports, and he has a plan for Ellensburg to be one of the best athletic schools in the state. Last year 16 of the 19 sports at Ellensburg made it to the state playoffs, but none came home with a championship. That will change next year. The work ethic and determination of the athletes at this clinic was great to see, and I am sure it will pay off in the next few years.”
