The highest-risk room in the building shouldn’t run on good intentions.

Barbells, maximal loads, and a room full of teenagers — supervised, in most schools, by teachers and sport coaches who were handed weight room duty without formal safety training. When an injury happens, the first question isn’t about the equipment. It’s whether the adult in charge was trained, and whether the school can prove it.

The WRSC answers both. Certified staff. A standardized safety protocol. A credential on file.

Certification Overview.

Four hours of video lessons built for the people who actually run school weight rooms — PE teachers, sport coaches, and strength staff. Here’s what you’ll walk away able to do:

01

Exercise Technique

Teach the squat, bench, and every core and auxiliary lift with the cues, absolutes, and spotting protocols that keep students safe under load.

02

Safety & Liability Protocols

Recognize and manage weight room risk: supervision standards, equipment setup, environment design, and the documentation practices that protect your program.

03

Weight Room Evaluation

Assess your own facility — layout, equipment condition, athlete routing, supervision sightlines — and fix the hazards hiding in plain sight.

04

Coaching Dynamics

Run a controlled room: how to communicate, monitor, and correct technique across a full class or team session, not just one athlete at a time.

From an expert witness in hundreds of weight room lawsuits:

“What certification does is give you a formidable defense to prove that you were well trained and knew what you were doing. And it’s a lot easier to prove that if you’ve gone through a training program.”

WRSC — Questions.

The WRSC online exam is open-book: 102 questions, 90 correct to pass, with free retakes. It's designed to confirm competence, not to gatekeep — coaches who complete the video training are ready.

Access links arrive by email within two business days of ordering, and the 4 hours of training are self-paced — most coaches finish within a week.

The WRSC certificate doesn't expire. The included Online Learning Center access runs for one year — renewing at $99.95/year keeps that access as the library is updated, continues the BFS Magazine subscription, and puts annual continuing safety education on file.

Different tool. The CSCS is a career performance credential for strength and conditioning professionals. The WRSC is a safety and supervision credential for the people actually running school weight rooms — PE teachers, sport coaches, and staff who need documented safety training on file.
