Kyle Fiat

Coach Fiat is a passionate proponent of the BFS Total Program and has assisted in implementing it across the entire Baltimore County Public Schools.

Coach Fiat grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and was fortunate enough to participate in the BFS program as a high school student/athlete. He was a two-sport athlete in high school, playing football in the fall and lacrosse in the spring.

Coach Fiat played football his freshman year of college at Dixie State College in St. George, UT. After a football career-ending neck injury, Coach Fiat transferred to Utah State and then to Towson University where he received a BA degree in Physical Education and played Division 1 lacrosse.

Coach Fiat later received an MA in Sport Leadership from Goucher College. In the summer 2007 Coach Fiat was drafted by the Los Angeles Riptide in Major League Lacrosse (MLL) and later traded to the Washington Bayhawks. In the winter of 2007 Coach Fiat was picked up as a free agent for the Philadelphia Wings in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). In 2007 Coach Fiat represented USA winning a Bronze Medal in the World Indoor Lacrosse Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Coach Fiat began his coaching and teaching career in 2008 where he began implementing the BFS program at Dulaney High School in Timonium, MD. Since 2008 Dulaney High School has hosted 20+ BFS Coaches Certifications, had a “Be and 11” Clinic and with Coach Fiat’s assistance Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) has taken on BFS as their county-wide curriculum. In 2011 Coach Fiat became the head varsity lacrosse coach at Dulaney and currently trains athletes utilizing the BFS program from every sports team offered at Dulaney High School.

Coach Fiat had the honor to coach Nick Benhoff (2012 BFS National Athlete of the Year), and Dulaney was awarded 2011 High School of the Year. In 2011 Coach Fiat was awarded the “Emerging Teacher Award” and in 2016 he was awarded the “Simon A. McNeely Award”.

Coach Fiat is married to Dena Fiat who is an art teacher at Dulaney High School where they met. They have 4 year old identical twin girls named Vonn and Ryan, a golden retriever named Otter, and reside in Baldwin, Maryland.
