Rod Mergardt joined BFS in 2010 after a long and successful career in public education which included teaching Physical Education at every level K-12, coaching Football as well as both boys and girls Track, Swimming, Diving and Gymnastics. He continues to teach on the faculty of two colleges and is a consultant to school districts. Through his thirty-three years as a school district administrator of Health, Physical Education and Athletics he has gained an appreciation of what BFS can contribute to the youth of our country.
This experience has also given Rod the background necessary to be associated with the legal side of our profession as a professor of Sports Law and as an Expert Witness. His understanding of safety, negligence, liability, and litigation makes Rod a valuable asset to BFS in his role as a Certification Instructor and liaison to the colleges that are preparing the future Physical Educators of America.
